The Inuyama, Seto, and Ichinomiya areas stretch from north to east of Nagoya City. The main tourist attraction is Inuyama Castle, a national treasure, where Hideyoshi Toyotomi entered the castle. Seto is also famous for its pottery called "Setomono.
Inuyama, Seto, and Ichinomiya offer tourist attractions such as Little World, Kokubunji Temple, and Mt. Ontake; sightseeing events such as the Sakura Marathon, the Noo Grand Fireworks, and the Sakura Festival; and local delicacies such as chikuwa, tebasaki, and hitomabushi.
Inuyama is a city with a long history, known as "Owari's Little Kyoto," and is located at the northern tip of Aichi Prefecture.
Seto is a sightseeing city where many events are held. Seto Marutto Museum" activities are underway. The slogan of the museum is "Seto, a city that shows and fascinates. The former site of Expo 2005 Aichi Japan has been reopened as "Seto Expo '70 Commemorative Park: Ai Park".
Ichinomiya is located in the northwestern part of Aichi Prefecture, bordering Gifu Prefecture. It is characterized as a woolen textile production center, accounting for 40% of all woolen textiles in Japan. The Tanabata Festival held in the city is a summer tradition and one of the three major Tanabata festivals in Japan.
Inuyama is home to Inuyama Naritasan Shrine, which is prayed for traffic safety, Jakkoin Temple, called "Owari no momiji dera," Zenkoji Temple, famous for its autumn leaves and bush clovers, Aozuka Ancient Tomb Historic Site Park, with its mysterious landscape of ancient tombs, Harigou Shrine, praised as the Great White Mountain God, Owari Fuji Omiya Sengen Shrine, known as the origin of the child deposit, and Ichinomiya, the origin of the name of the place. There is also "Mashioda Shrine," the origin of the name "Ichinomiya," "Myokoji Temple," with its famous Imperial Gate built by Emperor Go-Kogon, and "Kamo Shrine," famous for the legend that it cured Emperor Komyo of an eye disease.
For gourmet food, you should stop by "Iruka honey," a specialty of Inuyama, "Wakamatsuya Senichi," a Japanese confectionery using peaches, "Uiro no Ohnoya," and "Genkotsu Ame," all of which are also famous for their sweets.
In Seto, the famous "Seto-meshi" (fried noodles, eel, and rice with five different ingredients) should not be missed. In Ichinomiya, you should not miss the standard "Kishimen". In particular, kishimen and "miso nikomi udon" (udon noodles stewed in miso broth) made with red miso paste is popular among locals as well.
As sightseeing spots, you should not miss "National Treasure Inuyama Castle," which has the oldest castle tower in Japan, "Garden Yurakuen," which has three famous tea ceremony rooms, and "Kisogawa Kai," a specialty of Kisogawa, in the evening.
The Castle and Town Museum, where you can see historical materials handed down from the Naruse family, lords of Inuyama Castle, is also full of attractions. The "138 Tower Park," which is beautifully illuminated at night, and the "Kisogawa Ryokuchi Park," which is great for families, will delight children. The area around Kisogawa, with its many attractions, requires a spirited stroll.
